Super long post ahead. You are warned.
So it's been a long time since I posted. I'm not going to count exactly how long right now since that will just make me depressed, but I know it's been over a month. I kept having these things I wanted to talk about, and there kept being more building up and then I just... didn't. You know how it is, I think. :( Haven't been commenting much either, though I've been a little better about that. So yes, I am not dead. I do not think anyone was worried that I was but you never know.
What I have been doing during this time is being in California for eight days, the Berkshires for six and Florida for five (not all of these were at once). Just got back from the last today. It was a lot of fun except for when I got sick a few days ago. I am still sick now, so, that is not great. But I had a lot of fun seeing my extended family and everything. Just hope I didn't give them my cold.
Haven't been doing much else apart from that. Playing Sims 3, mostly. I have a decent legacy going and everything. I may picspam you guys with it later. :B I did not get the latest job I applied for, surprising no one, and I think it is too late to learn to drive, so my chances of accomplishing anything this summer are pretty well down there. I did, however, have an idea for what I can do next summer, jobwise, that I thought was a pretty good one: I can learn stenography. I bet I would be pretty good at picking it up, and if I can do that and bring up my typing speed 5 more wpm or so, I might be able to break into the closed-captioning field. And if I get good enough at that, I might be able to eventually get a job subbing things. :D Fansubbing would also be a good place to start with that one. But, um, let's give my Japanese another couple years, shall we.
More miscellany:
- Saw the perfect production of As You Like It over at Shakespeare and Company, and a few days later, entirely by chance, wound up with front-row seats to the opening night of the Williamstown Theater Festival's production of She Stoops To Conquer. I had not read the latter, but it was very funny and had a great cast. I suspect it would come across as pretty dry if you just read the play, so if you can, you should see a good production of it like that one. :D
- Some bitterness toward the recent Homestuck updates, but this post is long enough as is so I guess I'll discuss that later.
- Started watching King of the Hill. I'd thought it was just one of those dumb shows like Family Guy, but it surprised me by actually being thoughtful and caring about its characters. Will definitely go out of my way to watch it in the future.- I've discovered what I believe to be the most amazing Star Wars fic ever written: From The Ashes, by Estora. Updates are infrequent but continuing, and it is written in a manner reminiscent of Matthew Stover's amazing novelization of Revenge of the Sith and it is just. So good. The conceit is that instead of staying with Obi-Wan to go after Dooku, Anakin did in fact jump after Padmé on Geonosis, and that this one event changed the entire future of the galaxy. It's depressing at first, but gets really, really heartwarming (so far, anyway). It also gets slashy, so if you are not into that, you should skip it, but any other Star Wars fans please read it. You will like it. :D
- Have been getting more into Digimon lately, thanks to marathoning it on Odaiba Memorial Day and also thanks to JesuOtaku's reviews (1, 2, 3, 4). Have also been remembering why I crushed on Myotismon, so, that's fun. I'd like to rewatch all of it eventually. I wonder how many Odaiba Memorial Days it will take.
- Relatedly, this video. Oh my god.
- Trying to make another mix CD. We'll see how well that goes.
Maybe if I take the Digimon meme a couple answers at a time I can finish in the next three weeks. At least these two are fun ones. :D
Day 17: Best dressed character.
Well in Digimon this is pretty much synonymous with worst dressed character and also with everyone, but I will give it a shot. A few I like:

Iori's outfit is very classy and understated. The dull purple adds a nice touch of color to all that brown he has going. I would totally wear his outfit.

(why don't these guys have better full-body pictures)
I'm actually quite fond of Frontier's fashions in general, probably because I'm a huge fan of the layered look. These guys know how to do simple without it crossing over into boring (see below). I think Takuya is a good example. Sure, maybe the shorts do make his hips look big, but we see a good color scheme going here with the reds, yellows, and neutrals - echoing the colors of his predecessors but standing out due to forgoing blue. The black symbol on the shirt adds interest, and the jacket, well, layers, man, layers are awesome. I rest my case. Pretty much everyone from Frontier except Kouichi (and maybe Junpei) counts though.

Okay just one more from Frontier. Because I really love Tomoki's V-neck over T-shirt combo. Also, there is a guy who can pull of the trademark Digimon huge hat. You listening, Takeru?
But even with all these, I think I knew from the start who my crowner was going to be.

Look at that. Look at it from all those angles, even. There is no part of that outfit that does not work. All the colors support each other, and the predominance of cool colors is kept from being overwhelming by the touches of red (and her hair). Even the yellow scarf, despite not being matched by another part of the ensemble, doesn't seem out of place. Leaving the colors aside, it is a fairly normal, even girly outfit, but the belt, leg belt garter thing, and studded boots give it that edge that says you do not want to mess with this girl. I would wear this outfit too, and I'd be proud to do it.
Day 18: Worst dressed character.
Again, this is still basically everyone, but while I was looking back over the characters' outfits, one of them jumped out and blindsided me. And/or blinded me.

I was going to try to find some fanart to post here but I could not find very much with this outfit. You know why? Because it is a dumb outfit. Orange helmet + purple hair + powder blue shirt + green backpack + really weird high-waisted bright red pants (those are pants, right?) + green boots = ????? Why is she wearing a helmet anyway? Isn't it uncomfortable for that thing to clamp around her glasses? Shouldn't she at least have gotten digi-contacts? And what even are those pants? Ughhhhh Miyako I love you girl, but we need to have a serious talk about your fashion sense.
Special mention goes to the three main characters of Savers for being so blandly dressed in a franchise where pretty much everyone is a Rummage Sale Reject.

Come on, guys, you can do better than that.
Oh my god those got rambly. I'm so sorry.
Now, since I've been somehow inspired again, I'm off to try and write some of that ridiculous Ladd/Claire I've had banging around in my head for a couple months. Wish me luck~
