11. Black Butler / Kuroshitsuji



Confession time! As much as I may tend to go on about this show, I actually haven't seen that much of it. I watched the first six or so episodes with Usa-chan and Rekka, but I stopped fairly soon after Grell was introduced, because, well, once Grell came into the picture I couldn't bring myself to care that much about the other characters anymore. So I guess it would be more accurate to say that instead of the Black Butler fandom, I'm a member of the Grell Sutcliff fandom. :B And if you don't like Grell, I guess back away from this post, because that's basically all I'll be talking about. c:

Indeed, Grell was the very reason I started watching Black Butler, and the reason I knew about Grell was because of tehseto. I hope this isn't creepy, but I found her through somewhere (her icons, maybe?), noticed she liked Szayel from Bleach (whom I was crushing on bad at the time), then noticed she liked Grell, and I was like hmm who is this attractive glasses pointytooth fellow clearly we have the same taste so I should check him out. And I did, and I liked. And... I actually got around to friending tehseto at some point. ._.;; And then down the line somewhere I realized that maybe if someone refers to themself exclusively as a lady then maybe I should better start thinking of them as one. So Grell went from hot guy to hot girl, and also by virtue of this became the fictional girl I've had the most serious crush on. (The characters I'm into the most are almost exclusively guys, so I guess thinking of Grell as a guy at first helped with that. I hope that is not sexist. :( )

Also the Grell glasses chain that I bought from Anime Boston two years ago or so has become a near-constant part of my wardrobe. I have received more compliments on it than any other piece of my wardrobe, even (especially!) from non-fan people who just think the skulls are cool. So thank you, Grell, for adding to my coolness level. :D

Favorite character: I'm not sure if I've mentioned this yet, but it's Grell. Glasses! Sharkteeth! Suits! Dresses! Being adorably insane! Being insanely adorable! Chainsaw in the 1800s! Your argument is invalid.

Least favorite character: I'm going to put my unpopular opinion out there: I don't like Sebastian as much as everyone else seems to. Really, I don't. I guess he's good-looking-ish (I'm not even that attracted to his looks tbh), but I don't like his personality or how he's always so in control of things. If he actually had to be subservient to Ciel and not just apparently playing everything behind the scenes, well, that would be hot. But alas. :(

Hottest girl: Whoops this is Grell again! c: I would link you to some especially hot pictures of her but I realized that is all of them. Here, have my Grell tag on tumblr if you are still interested. Hnf grell. Grell i will marry you someday.

OTP: Due to the connection between them in my mind, I've shipped Grell/Szayel ever since I started watching. Don't you think they would get along? They totally would. Grell would be all impressed by Szayel's sciencey stuff, and Szayel would be glad to have someone to explain it to. And then they would make out. :B Why have I never yet commissioned fanart of this. D:
I also ship Grell/Rip Van Winkle from Hellsing, even if I haven't seen Hellsing, because they both have glasses and pointy teeth and are sharp dressers. And unlike Grell/Szayel, someone's actually drawn this one! (Warning: probable NSFW. I'm not sure where Rip's finger is.) :D
And fine, spoilsports, if I have to pick one within the series, it's probably Grell/Madame Red. Their story is so touching. And after all, not all couples solve their problems by going out and becoming Jack the Ripper. So... you've got to admire that.
